A friend shared this quote with me a while ago and I think about it a lot.

"Aim above morality. Be not simply good, be good for something."

bike lust

So, I have been incredibly disappointed in humanity after my beloved black beach cruiser was stolen three weeks ago but hope was restored when, walking down Abbot Kinney in Venice, CA the other day, I discovered Linus Bikes. The company is the brainchild of Adam McDemott and Chad Kushner, both South African natives. With just a handful of styles and colors, Linus keeps it simple, but detail isn't lost on them. Inspired by French styles from the ’50s and ’60s, the elegant new bicycles are very grown-up. The stream-line “roadster” (my personal favorite) features leather handle bars and saddle seat. Is it wrong that I want to buy every beautiful bike I see? They also recently came out with their own line of simple yet functional canvas accessories like double-sided farmers’ market bags and small pouches for keys and a wallet. So simple. So sweet. Go in for a test ride? Don’t mind if I do.

and i'm back!

So obviously I haven't posted in a long time, but that is mostly due to the fact that I was without internet access all summer (a surprisingly freeing experience). From June to August I worked at a camp on the East Coast. It was the most beautiful and challenging and exciting summer to date. I learned how to sail, throw pottery, play lacrosse and hike mountains. This picture was the view of the lake from my cabin porch. Can't beat waking up to this every morning!

bicycle diaries

This is my bike gang. We like to call ourselves "The Lost Boys". Lauren, Astrid and I can be seen cruising around Marina Del Ray, picking up fro-yo and making friends with the neighborhood dogs. We are actively looking for new members.

BookBook

How rad? The BookBook a one-of-a-kind, hardback leather case designed exclusively for MacBook and MacBook Pro. Available in Classic Black or Vibrant Red, BookBook brings three levels of security to your prized Mac. First, the hardback cover and spine provide solid protection from the rigors of the road. Second, the vintage book design disguises MacBook for superior security. And third, the stylish case protects you from being like everyone else because BookBook is totally original.

I love The Royal Tennenbaums, and this scene is one of the most beautiful I've seen.

ready, set, blog

This blog will be full of my thoughts, my adventures, my inspirations, and my ideas. It will serve as my creative outlet, my diary, my entertainment, and my means of venting. Maybe I will teach, maybe i will inspire, or maybe I will fail. I guess the unpredictability is what makes this exciting. Perhaps millions of people will peruse my blog or maybe only my mom will read it. I just don't know. A blog is merely a tool that allows people to do anything from change the world to share their grocery list.
This is me, Cooper- a pathological picture-taker, a college student, an idealist, a friend, a son, a brother, and now, a blogger. Enjoy.
